It has been all go at Ngumbe this week! We have been busy in the library teaching reading skills such as discussing the author, illustrator and blurb, questioning skills and comprehension. Mr Gilmour and Miss Paterson have joined us at Ngumbe to train sports leaders and teach the children sports activities. Today, I had an audience of 41 teachers, the Head Teacher of Ngumbe, Mrs Chilowa and the District Education Manager, Mrs Samati who all came to learn about teaching reading skills- no pressure! I also had standard 2 and standard 7 in the library reading and singing songs and standard 6 playing games. After the information meeting, I was able to chat to the teachers and answer questions. After that, I had to film Mrs Chilowa for her leadership certificate assessment. She is very good at timekeeping because I was asked to film her for three minutes and she stopped talking after three minutes and one second. After that, I got to meet the newest member of the Ngumbe team- baby Kevin who is just one week old and is the son of one of the teachers. I don’t think his mum will mind if I bring him back to Scotland to meet you all- he’s just gorgeous! Love from Miss Black x
