DateOctober 2013 This is what I will be learning about in school term 2
  • Counting and recognising numbers beyond 10
  • Recognising and continuing repeated patterns
  • Naming the coins which we use and counting to 10p using the 1p and 2p coins
  • Creating and interpreting graphs
  • Recognising o’clock
  • Learning the number bonds to 7
  • Correct formation of numbers 1 to 10 to prevent reversals
  • Name and recognise 3D shapes including cube, cylinder, cone and cuboids
  • Learn the vocabulary for stage 2 and 3 of Storyworld reading books
  • Continue to learn the initial sounds and begin to blend sounds to allow children to independently read and spell new words.
  • Develop their knowledge of rhyme
  • Spell the first 10 common spelling words
  • Develop their comprehension skills by discussing the stories they have read.
  • Continue to write for a variety of purposes
Cross Curricular
  • Continue to develop their independence and taking care of their own and others property.
  • Continue to develop awareness of print in the environment.
  • Take part in the life of the school through membership of school groups and participation in weekly Business meetings.
  • Greater awareness of seasonal changes as we move from autumn to winter.
  • Science Week, Body Systems: Germs and disease
  • Firework safety and safety during winter mornings and nights (linking with JRSO competition)
  • Links with Julia Donaldson stories we have been reading , including shadows, footprints, animals and their young and animal habitats
